My Philosophy
Our true health is rooted in nature. It sustains us in every way. Nature’s clear water and air is life. The building blocks and fuel for our body comes from the food we eat, and the closer our food is to its natural, unrefined form, the healthier our body will be. Nature’s herbs and plant medicine is there for us when our system is out of balance – to nourish us, tonify, heal, support, and fortify our body on its journey to healing. The cycles within our body of sleep and wakefulness, the menstrual cycle, the season and stages of our life are all tied to the cycles and seasons of nature, a reflection in smaller form of the greater whole. It is her beauty that nurtures our spirit and soothes our mind.
In the West, and in many modern societies, we are awakening to the realization that a lot of our own inner disharmony and unhappiness come from our disconnect from the natural world and the land that holds us. Our food is typically processed, refined, or overbred to produce taste but not nutrition and continuously removed further and further from its natural state. We spend most of our lives indoors, in artificially controlled temperatures, staring at artificially lighted screens. We depend on machines for our transport, entertainment, health, and work. We seek instant pleasure and comfort, without recognizing that this very pursuit sickens us, and is also driving the ongoing environmental catastrophe of our time; and as our planet sickens, we sicken as well: all things are interconnected.
In our work together my intention is to gently guide you to find your connection back to nature, through the food you eat, through gentle yet effective herbal medicine, through finding ways to slow down and spend more time outside, so you can find your way to true and lasting health rooted in nature. And maybe, just maybe one healthy, joyful, and balanced human being at a time, we can contribute to the healthier, balanced, and thriving Earth
